I think it's hard to do both. Look at all the flak Jesus got for hanging out with sinners. The other day I realized that apart from my next door neighbors, I don't know anyone in Iuka who doesn't go to church with me, and that scared me, because I'm completely out of touch with what's going on outside the church.

Working at the mall and Starbucks, you probably get a lot more interaction with the real world than I do, but will that continue after you finish school? I don't know. It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, and other than actually getting in the trenches with people and meeting them where they are, I don't know how we'll ever really reach them.

I'm actually really looking forward to having kids who play sports and go to school so I have a reason to get to know their parents. At least I'll have contact with people outside the church.

One of my biggest fears about going into the ministry is losing my connection with the "real" world. I lived in the Christian bubble for so long that once I got out I have no desire whatsoever to go back. The only problem is, how does one keep a connection with the real world while still engaging in church or ministry work?
