personal stationery – Posie Pop
In case you haven’t noticed, I love Minted, especially the company’s commitment to independent designers like myself. If you like paper even a little bit, you’ll love Minted too. The quality of design and beautiful product simply can’t be beat.
All of that said, I participate in the Minted challenges because it sharpens my design skills. The competition is incredibly fierce, and though I have yet to even come close to winning, my scores have improved with each challenge. I’m hoping that this one will be no different.
Minted has partnered with Chronicle Books to develop an exclusive line of stationery that will be sold around the world. Chronicle will select four winning designs to include in their collection, and the Minted community will select designs to be sold as personalized stationery. Prizes range from $1,000 to $100, plus a commission on all sales. It’s an amazing opportunity, and some really great designs have been submitted.
Chronicle Books supplied a color scheme {which explains why all the designers used the same colors}, and asked designers to develop ‘over the top pretty’ designs for the competition. I submitted four designs for this challenge {including the “Posie Pop” card at the top of this post}.
personal stationery – Fan Whimsy
This “Fan Whimsy” design was inspired by hand-folded paper fans. I’ve seen these all over the blogosphere lately, and I’m smitten with the quirky personality they can add to an event. Love.
personal stationery – Funky Floral
I love the elements in the “Posie Pop” design above so much that I developed an entire pattern with them. This “Funky Floral” design is cheery and bright, and it’s not your grandmother’s floral. Thank goodness.
personal stationery – Blooming
And finally, “Blooming” is a more refined take on the same flower. I love the simplicity of this design. It’s reminiscent of old school tole painting and reminds me of my mom.
Voting is currently open for the Chronicle Books Challenge. If you have a few spare minutes, click on each design above to rate it. But don’t stop with me – rate some of the other designs as well. There are some really fabulous entries. But don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself.
Until next time, grace and peace.

A couple of weeks ago, I promised an entry devoted to Micah’s very first birthday party, and it’s about time that I got around to posting it, don’t you think??
One of Micah’s favorite toys is a tiny stuffed owl that came with her bouncy seat, so when it came time to design a birthday party collection for my little girl, I chose to use a sweet little owl as the image for Micah’s party.

The little owl on her invitation became the icon of her party, and I used it over and over again in the decorations, from the yard signs, to the banner, to the cupcake toppers, to Micah’s smash cake topper.

I love the owl – especially her little flower hairbow. It was no coincidence that Micah’s hairbow matched her owl’s :) A dear friend made Micah’s purple owl dress, and I think it turned out really cute. Not too matchy, matchy. But very sweet.

Of course, we had to remove the cute dress when it came time for Micah to dig into her cake. I didn’t want icing all over that little dress! So we took it off, sang “happy birthday” and waited for Micah to dig in. Then we waited some more. Finally, I gave her a taste and broke off some pieces for her, and she enjoyed those, but she wasn’t really interested in smashing the cake.

I decorated our newly finished deck {thanks, Dennis!} with the tissue paper pom-pom balls I told you about earlier. The pomanders couldn’t have been any more colorful or lively, and I think they set a pretty fun tone for the whole event.

Overall, Micah’s party was a sweet and cute event. I loved celebrating our little girl’s big day with so many wonderful friends and family, and great fun was had by all. Especially by Micah. She’s still having fun with all those pom-poms I made. They make good toys, you know!
All of the owl party items above are available in the Senojal Designs etsy shop. Be sure to stop on by and check them out if you’re planning an owl party for your little one!
Until next time, grace and peace.

Becoming a mother has made me appreciate all the little things my mom did for me when I was Micah’s age. I may have taken those things for granted for the past 27 years, but now that I know how difficult it is to take care of an infant, I’ll never take it for granted again. Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and it will be a special day in our household. Not only is it my very first time to celebrate the day as a mother, but we will also have Micah’s baby dedication at church, and we’ll get to spend the weekend with our moms. I’m looking forward to it.
Has Mother’s Day crept up on you this year?
It’s OK. You can confess.
Admit it, some of you haven’t given much thought to the fact that Mother’s Day is this Sunday. Don’t worry, I’m here to save you from mama drama. How so? By giving you another freebie, courtesy of Senojal Designs.
This free printable card features a mama and baby bird on a whimsical tree branch. Feel free to print the card as many times as you like and give it to all the special mothers in your life.
