I’m so sad to write this post this morning. My sweet little nephew is back in the ICU. Many of you may remember me requesting prayer for him last month. He has had a couple of relapses since then. In fact, the picture above was taken when he was last discharged on August 9. Today I’m asking for prayer again. Specifically, I’m asking you to pray for a miracle.
The Bible is full of stories about people who carried their loved ones to Jesus. With a touch of his hand, he wiped away all the sickness and disease and restored them to health. If I could physically carry Logan to Jesus, I would, but I can’t. I can carry him to Jesus in prayer. I believe that God is still in the healing business. If you believe the same thing, please join me in carrying my nephew to the Lord.
The doctors stand by their previous diagnosis of meningoencephalitis, but they think that has now caused ADEM (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis). Don’t google it. It’s scary. Basically, he has several areas of swelling in his brain. He’s on high doses of steroids to reduce the swelling, but if the swelling does not go down soon, they will drill a hole in his skull to relieve the pressure.
If you’re a mom, you know how terrifying that sounds.
So please, pray for a miracle. Pray for complete healing and no long-term damage. Pray for God to glorify Himself in this situation – that He may receive all the credit for Logan’s healing. Just pray. Please.
I will keep you updated as I learn more.
Thank you for your faithful prayers.

Hope you’re all having a good afternoon! I popped over to the myMISSIONfulfilled site yesterday to see if my latest article had been posted, and sure enough, I found it. When Courtney asked me to write an article about maintaining healthy relationships while engaged, I signed up immediately. Then I tried really hard to remember what that period of life was like. It all passed so quickly – in a blur!
At any rate, here’s a little sneak peek of the end result: Engaging Issues: Keeping the Peace While You’re Engaged.
It was fun to remember that time – especially since I’ve been working on a couple of custom wedding suites lately. It’s easy to lose sight of the big picture when you’re planning a wedding, and I hope this article encourages young women to keep first things first.
Be sure to click through to myMISSIONfulfilled to read the entire article on healthy relationships during engagement.
Until next time, grace and peace.

Wow. Yesterday, when I wrote about Logan’s seizures, I had no idea that so many of you would pray and pass the message along. I watched in shock last night as the ticker on my blog rose higher and higher, and I was completely overwhelmed by the vast number of you who took a few minutes to hear Logan’s story and say a prayer for him. Thank you so very much. It’s appreciated much more than you can imagine.

Prayers work, just so you know.
They’ve moved Logan out of ICU and into a normal hospital room, and the doctors expect that he will continue to improve. As of now, I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be in the hospital, but the doctors say that the swelling in his brain should go down on its own over the course of the next several days. In the meantime, they are keeping him on medication to prevent any more scary seizures while the swelling recedes.

Maybe before too long, he’ll be playing ball again.
He’s not completely out of the woods yet, but things seem to be looking up for our little man. If you are the praying type, we would appreciate your continued prayers. I will keep you updated on his progress.
Thank you!
Until next time, grace and peace.

See that cute little guy on the left? That’s my nephew Logan. He’s a rambunctious, active little man. Well, he’s usually rambunctious and active.

Right now he’s in the ICU.
These photos were all taken over the Fourth of July weekend. On July 5, he had a couple of very severe seizures that landed him in the hospital. After running countless tests, the doctors determined that he had a form of viral meningitis. They kept a close eye on him for several days, but over the weekend, he was released from the hospital and returned home.

Last night he started seizing again.
The doctors are still performing tests. He has swelling on both sides of his brain, and they’re now thinking that he has encephalitis that has perhaps been induced by the meningitis.
He’s in bad shape, y’all.
I tell you all of this to ask for your prayers. Pray for wisdom on the part of the doctors. Pray for a clear diagnosis and effective treatment. Pray for swift healing. Pray for easing of pain, cessation of seizures, and restorative rest. Pray for strength and comfort for his parents during this time.

Please pray. Logan needs all the help you can give.
Until next time, grace and peace.

Thank you for your prayers. You can find an update on Logan’s condition here.

Sigh. It’s hard to believe that yet another month has passed. In all honesty, June was really about reclaiming my life. At the beginning of the month, I was utterly and completely overwhelmed by all that I had piled on my plate. Between my writing deadlines, Minted challenges, VBS, youth camp, and plain old everyday life, it was a pretty wild ride.
I’m starting to realize how much I crave order in my life. If I’m going to work, I have to have an organized workspace. I need a clean desk and an empty inbox to really concentrate. The level of disorder in my home is a direct reflection of the disorder in my priorities and attention as of late. When I closed the etsy shop, I did it because it had become priority number one. I let everything else slide when I had orders to fill, and I became obsessed with selling more cards and making more money. Sales are good, but I couldn’t keep up with the pace I had set, and our lives reflected it.
Stepping back for a few moments was really good for me. During the time that the shop was closed, I was able to go to Centrifuge with our youth group, and it was completely refreshing. To be honest, I never really expected to be on the receiving end of the teaching there, but the camp pastor, Chad Poe, spoke directly to my heart and really encouraged me to refocus my attention. I had become very intentional about building my business, but I had lost sight of the things that truly matter.
All of that to say, June has been a month about being intentional with my time and attention. I have continued to run regularly, and it has helped me tremendously to leave the house and work behind for a little while and simply hit the pavement. I’m still reading my Bible, but I’m also still behind. As I frenetically tried to catch up so I could check it off my list, I realized that I was missing the point. I was rushing through the reading for the sake of saying that I had completed it. So I’ve decided to release myself from catching up. I’ve developed the discipline of twice daily Bible reading; now I’m working on reading it with intention, which is something that I should have been doing all along.
As I type this, the household is back in order and manageable again. It’s my goal to keep it that way.
Until next time, grace and peace.
